Background and Approach
Digital civic education provides on-demand, interactive, engaging, and personalized learning experiences that foster knowledge, skills, and values. At Andariya, a veteran digital media enterprise, we are cognizant of the growing reliance and potential of online resources to impart values on audiences.
Building on Andariya’s established experience and networks in education in Sudan and the East and Horn of Africa region, we launched Nit3allam in collaboration with the best Sudanese educators, content creators and community advocates.
Since its establishment in 2015, Andariya has produced hundreds of easily digestible and in-depth multimedia content. As our content and audience members grew over the years, we noticed the increased participation and interest of younger demographics in civic mobilization following the example of Sudanese youth's participation in civic affairs. Leveraging our track-record of producing high quality research and locally-driven content, we created Nit3allam to support communities' active participation in civic affairs by providing high-quality and context-aware short-courses through Nit3allam.
Nit3allam supports critical thinking and problem-solving skills, by exposing learners to complex and controversial topics, and challenging them to analyze and evaluate information to find practical and actionable solutions. All courses are designed and delivered by local experts with lived experience of the local context and a tangible track-record of building capacity.
Through an iterative and participatory process, course material is created, reviewed, and evaluated for information accuracy, engagement, context, and gender sensitivity. Once complete, it is post-produced with the highest quality to ensure aiding visuals and graphic motions enhance the learner experience.
Nit3allam offers innovative, self-paced and affordable educational content to young and mature learners interested in influencing their lived reality through voluntary and civic action focused on post-war communities beginning with Sudan. Nit3allam is more than an educational resource. It is a community building platform direly needed by a generation of civilians affected by displacement and conflict who wish to alter this distressing reality.
The platform functions as both an interactive educational platform and a digital community - connecting civic mobilizers from various conflict-affected countries to learn and share experiences. Grounded in the unfolding participation of youth in civic mobilization both online and offline, Nit3allam presents a means to nurture young minds through education and engagement with qualified locally-attuned professionals online.
